about me

Lou Baudelaire was born in the small seaside town of Byron Bay, Australia. Having initially studied a Bachelor's in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at university, she became fascinated with strategy and developed a keen interest in foreign policy, conflict, and diplomacy through a feminist lens. Later, she transitioned into STEM to pursue her dream of becoming a cardiologist, but instead found herself writing stories between tutes and lectures (and, admittedly, sometimes during them). And so, rather ironically, she discovered her love of writing about the heart while studying it.

These influences have deeply shaped her work and underpin her passions for women’s issues, history and mythology. Her favourite books meld the magical with the exploration of womanhood and its many facets, and she is particularly drawn to romantic stories that delve into the gothic and dare to challenge patriarchal norms.

When not writing, Lou can be found in the Queensland countryside with her flock of chickens and ducks, as well as her faithful yet equally cantankerous horse, Sergeant Pepper. She spends her days reading about gorgeous villains, rummaging through antique stores, and attempting to keep her garden alive with varying degrees of success.
